Gramercy, Manhattan
Our Gramercy studio is in the heart of Manhattan, just two blocks from Union Square. Our spacious, 600-square foot studio sits on the third floor of a historic, landmark building. Mat classes are limited to eight people and our equipment classes are limited to three people.
This location has a railroad-style layout and the large windows open up the entire studio. We are on the corner of 16th and 3rd, so you’ll be able to see the flurry of the city below. What’s better than Pilates with a view?
History of Bombshell Gramercy
Formerly Feel Good Pilates
In 2019, Kayla Prestel was an independent teacher in Union Square when she learned her studio was closing. Unable to find a studio to rent from in the area, she started looking at commercial space and landed upon the current building in Gramercy. Kayla initially looked into a large studio space and realized it was out of her budget. However, the owners kept her in mind and reached out a few months later around Halloween to offer her a smaller space in the same building. Kayla believes her costume, a Unicorn onesie, was a contributing factor in her luck!
She was confident that she knew enough instructors looking for rental space with classical Pilates equipment and took a leap of faith to officially open her own studio, Feel Good Pilates! Six months later, the city entered a pandemic lockdown and she continued to teach virtually. The studio re-opened in the Fall of 2020 and continued to grow.
In 2023, the time came for Kayla to renew the lease. She considered her passion for acting and puppetry and the presence of a new opportunity– to manage an off-Broadway theater. Realizing she loved managing a business, she was no longer excited to teach Pilates. She understood that running a boutique studio required an actively involved owner.
Kayla felt torn because in five years, she created a community and home for independent instructors who she didn’t want to shut out. She was looking for a way to keep the doors open when she remembered Kelly Korn, another independent instructor who had previously rented at Feel Good. Over the years they followed each other on social media and kept in touch. Kayla was aware Kelly had been growing her own business– Bombshell Pilates. Knowing how much Kelly loved the studio, Kayla thought if Kelly was interested in expanding, she would be the perfect person to maintain the elements, mission, and intention that Kayla originally set forth to create.
In the summer of 2024, there was a transition and Feel Good Pilates became Bombshell Pilates! Kelly and the Bombshell team are honored to be able to continue what Kayla has worked so hard to build – a wonderful space and community.
