Bombshell Pilates Turns Two

Two years ago, over the 4th of July Weekend 2021, my husband and I (Kelly) made a seven hour road trip to Pittsburgh, to pick up a beautiful little Gratz Pilates reformer I had bought from a studio out there. The fact that I was able to find a reformer at all was a miracle.

This was a year into the pandemic, and all the manufacturing companies were behind. The second-hand market was like the Wild West. This reformer’s name was Little Martha; I assume after Martha Graham, who had history with Joseph Pilates. She was to be my very first reformer. We lovingly shoved L.M. into a rented Kia Sorrento (Thank God it fit—barely.) and hauled it back to the city. We carried into my first tiny 5th floor space at 135 West 20th Street as the fireworks went off. That road trip was what made the first physical location of Bombshell Pilates possible and started me on a truly wild path.

How things have changed over the past two years! But change can be good. We have moved into a beautiful and special space eight times bigger than the original (same building, different floor!) We have filled it with more kick-ass classical equipment. Wonderful new people have found us, adding more life to the studio. I have build the BEST possible team. If you haven’t tried every single teacher yet, for whatever reason, I truly believe you are missing out. They are uniquely talented beyond belief.

My mission (now with the indomitable Meg, Camilo, Lynda, and Mia) is the same as always — to teach you well. To make you feel like the best and strongest possible version of yourself. To listen. To support. To push and give you a little tough love when necessary. To make you stand taller, both literally and figuratively. To give you a safe place to be. All of that has not, and will not, change.

But change can be good — even great. Pilates changes you. Adding discipline, repetition, and routine to your movement and life changes you. I hope you feel it.

I hope you keep going.

And if you haven’t begun yet, the best way to begin is to … well, get started >>
